Bland Diet
Bland Diet: Easy to Make & Easy on You
Doctors often recommend a bland diet after certain surgeries or during chemo. It is a great idea if you suffer from gastrointestinal problems or if you’re experiencing nausea or if you are simply feeling... under the weather. A bland diet consists of plainly cooked, low-fat, low-fiber “white” foods. It may seem counterintuitive to eat this way when we recommend whole foods elsewhere on the site, but on occasion, especially after major surgery, your body needs foods that don’t have too much fiber and are easy to digest as to not irritate sore, post-op insides. Our founder Ann Ogden Gaffney ate like this for a month after the doctors removed her cancerous kidney, leaving everything inside sore. It may seem like a dull diet, but it doesn’t have to be!
