I love stewed fruit, and this plum apple sauce is absolutely delicious. It’s one of our favorites in the CFYL office. Not only does it taste really good, it is perfect to eat during... chemo. It makes a soothing sweet treat to snack on when you feel sick, or fits the bill simply when you feel like something sweet for dessert that’s good for you. If you’re like me, it is the perfect breakfast fruit with little Greek yogurt.
In a medium saucepan, bring the apples, plums, sugar, and water to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 40 to 45 minutes, or until desired consistency. Serve warm or let cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Chef Tips
Gala apples are sweet. If you can’t find them use Golden Delicious as a substitute.
If you are feeling up to it, this dish is the perfect filling for a fall pie, crisp or crumble. Try it with our Granola Crumble Topping.
