We’ve Cooked Up a New Cook for Your Life

After more than a year of plotting, planning, editing, and designing, we are thrilled to unveil a brand-new Cook for Your Life!

In addition to a more modern look and feel, our redesigned website boasts several exciting new features and functionalities – all aimed at making it easier for you to access the science-based, nutritionally sound recipes, articles, videos, and more valuable resources that you have come to count on.

A few of the updates:

Easier Ways to Find the Recipes You Need

Under the direction of our on-staff oncology-trained Registered Dietitian, Kate Ueland, MS, RD, we have exponentially increased our number of cancer-focused recipe categories, making it easier to find the recipes you need. New categories address even more of the side effects and symptoms many people may experience during treatment, such as taste changes, mouth sores, constipation, and ileostomy management.

We also have a new Preparation Methods section to make it easier for you to feed yourself and your loved ones, no matter your cooking situation. Think: Hot plate, pantry friendly, cooking for 1-2, and microwave recipes.

With our new robust search and filtering system, you can now choose multiple categories and drill down to the exact types of recipes that are most helpful to you. Dairy-free soups for when you’re experiencing nausea? We’ve got ‘em.

Shareable Shopping Lists & Grocery Carts

With one click, you can now create customizable shopping lists from any recipe page. Add as many recipe ingredient lists as you like, cross off the ingredients you don’t need, add more that you do. Share your list with family and friends or bring it with you to the store.

If heading out to the market isn’t in the plans, you can have the ingredients delivered directly to your home by simply choosing a store in your area. Groceries on your doorstep in just a day or two? In the words of our founder, Ann Ogden Gaffney: “How easy is that!”

Site Experiences that Speak to You

Whether you’re focused on cancer prevention, are in the middle of treatment (and dealing with the side effects that may come with it), or are a survivor wanting more info on how to thrive not just survive, we now have new multi-media experiences with nutritional info, cooking videos, related recipes, and health advice tailored specifically to your needs.

More areas you’ll enjoy:

  • Cooking 101, featuring tips and tricks for beginner cooks
  • Kitchen Dictionary, where you’ll find key nutrition, shopping, and cooking info about top cancer-fighting ingredients
  • Ask a Registered Dietitian, a dedicated section featuring answers to your burning nutrition questions

Mobile-first Experience

Our new website was designed with you in mind. We wanted to make cooking more accessible, which meant designing a site for all the cooks who are juggling a spatula in one hand and their cellphone in the other. Everything from our homepage and recipe pages to our global navigation and search experience were designed to get you to the right information no matter what device you’re on. No more pinching your cellphone screen to zoom in or tapping on the wrong button when elements are too close together.

A New Way to Participate

We’d love to get to know you better. By taking our short survey, we can better understand who uses our website which will help us to create more the recipes, articles, and videos you find most helpful to you. It will also help us design future research studies on how best to support our cancer community in improving nutrition through diet. As our thanks, we’ll send you an e-booklet with exclusive recipes, cooking tips, and nutritional information tailored specifically to you.
